Nyamutooro and her husband Parmu, coffee farmers in Uganda
Nyamutooro and her husband Parmu are coffee farmers in Uganda and a farmers part of the Nyakana Merber farmer group found in the village of Ndhew-Adolo in the West Nile region of the country.
As parents ,Nyamutooro and Parmu have 4 children whose education has for long been their priority, a priority that they are often unable to accomplish due to the lack of adequate funds that would be placed in the securing of said education / school fees.
In Uganda, coffee is a critical part of the economy and its importance is growing. Over 1.8 million households grow coffee, and coffee contributes nearly a third of the country’s export earnings but despite such an outstanding number of households involved, many coffee farming households do not earn their worth thus living lives below life satisfaction.
With the unconditional cash transfers, families like that of Nyamutooro have an uplifting hand to support them on their way to achieving life satisfaction and most importantly a step towards self #reliance proven by the fact that with the cash transfers so far, Nyamutooro and Parmu java been able to pay school fees for all their four children and also purchased a pig worth 150,000ugx / 40.80$ / €36.60.
Their goal is to construct permanent housing and to continue paying school fees for their children and we are glad to be able to not just witness this manifest but walk alongside them on their way to it.
